"GORM"
james t. edmonston/ jamilo pitts - awesome blogger and talented artist. Check out this hilarious entry.
"...I will now present you with a list of what’s really buggin me, and what we can do to fix it, or at least make it more…How shall I say…Gorm(combination of good, warm and normal. Taxes and licensing fees apply. Turd conjuring and other such said practices are limited to, but not socially exempt from buckle end whippings, curb kicking, or putting your nose against the wall.)..." - James Taylor Edmondson
I love those who put themselves in situations or under the microscope so they can wear the badge of honor when it comes to sharing the best bar stories one could hope to tell. I can't help but thank David Sedaris for changing literary history.

flowing and ~ ah yes ~ LONG
Dear long hair - grow back already!!!
Here is a picture of my hair from January of 2009. Currently I'm probably about 3 inches below my shoulders, I haven't cut it since that horrible cut SEVEN MONTHS AGO - hurry up hair!

"goober peas" who calls them that?
This week I made Peanut Butter Pie at the request of Cameron. I decided to follow this weird recipe because it called for condensed milk instead of powdered sugar. Also, I was curious about the need for lemon juice, but I can't tell if I like it or should leave it.
Its a little too rich for my blood but that doesn't surprise me. I'll have to let Cameron be the judge since he's had other Peanut Butter Pies before.

down to the floor
Bassist, Gerard Smith of TV On The Radio passed away last week from lung cancer that was diagnosed only a month previous. He was only 34 - that just sucks.

Milk Soda - Yup
Enjoyed some Milk soda with friends after dinner yesterday. I hadn't had it in about 15 years but it wasn't as bad as it sounds. Menio described it as Sprite with melted ice cream.
"Milkis launched in 1989 with a huge marketing campaign, notably with the appearance of Hong Kong movie star Chow Yun-fat in its TV commercials.[2] Chow was enjoying huge popularity from the success of the movie A Better Tomorrow and his saying the catchphrase "Saranghaeyo, Milkis!" (사랑해요, 밀키스! I love Milkis!) in his strong accent became a huge hit; sales soared and the catchphrase remains as one of the most popular." -Wikipedia

looked like raw meat
This week I made Strawberry Pie. It came out looking like raw meat but tasted nice and summery. I just covered it with whipped cream to hide its meat-like surface. Not sure what I'll do different next time but this recipe is definitely a keeper.
You can follow the recipes here:
Pie Crust: here
I accidentally used self rising flour that made the crust more like short bread - it worked out for this pie. I used an 8 inch dish instead of 9.
Strawberry Pie Recipe: here
I changed the recipe to make it less sugary - 3/4 of the strawberries uncooked, 1/4 of the strawberries cooked in a 1/4 of a cup of sugar, 3/4 cups water and 3 tbl spoons corn starch.
Whipped Cream: 1/2 pint of heavy cream , 2 tablespoons of powdered sugar, beat til stiff peaks form

c'mon!!!!!
I've got to be able to piece together one of these kits at a thrift store - don't you think?! Really I only need the two oddly shaped tongs to the far left.
I already went to three thrift stores and almost got cut by random rusty knives buried in the various filthy looking kitchen accessories bins. I may as well just purchase the darn kit - its only $8 plus shipping and handling.
Fruit - prepare to be boiled!

the fun part
the creative part of my brain is becoming atrophied - quick someone prescribe me a good book to read!!!!! The last book I read was Motherless Brooklyn. It's about a detective who has tourettes and for some reason I started to absorb minor ticks till a week after I finished. Not very relaxing. I know - I'm a freak.
Guess I'll explore more speculative non-fiction with Mary Roach. She is like if David Sedaris became a science writer. I hope I don't get too spooked. I recommend Stiff and Bonk for those who have yet to read anything by Roach.

little victories
This weekend was spent wisely - had a ton of fun.
Was treated to a Latte and Chocolate Mousse Torte for Saturday breakfast - thanks Hana!
Attended Bachelorette 1 of 2 for this season - sadly I was the only one who gifted something dirty and it was pretty mild, got to meet some lovely people
Grabbed delicious brunch and then went flea marketing with lovely Dee where we introduced our haggling skills to the world
Enjoyed the sunny and warm sunday afternoon by taking a walk with mom cakes
Never ended up getting Ribs but I got to eat Pig Feet with raw garlic cloves - reminds me of my dad - my mouth smells wonderful.
Picked out some new merch to post to the online shop - new stuff coming soon.
Closing the weekend with my new TV addiction The Killing.
Life is good.

pre occupied
Man total lack of posts this week. Been a little busy heres a recap:
Tuesday:
Had a Korean Man translate some signs for me but he didn't speak english. This ordeal caused me to accidentally purchase an egg plant plant - I'm allergic to eggplant. The guy was really nice. We were both two duds in a parking lot purchasing vegetable plants.
Wednesday:
In my endeavors to become a good pie maker I made this pie with Dona. The recipe is delicious - I learned that apple pie without cinnamon or nutmeg is the best: Grandma Ople's Apple Pie
Thursday:
Witnessed a short order cook make 30 lbs of bacon in about 30 mins or less. It was incredible. I was so close my face felt greasy. I ended up ordering the BLT.
Friday:
Knowing that there are some really rotten people in the world, I felt the solid proof that there are just as many amazing kind souls. Dona & Mark courageously saved a woman in a domestic violence dispute this week. Also, I've received a tremendous amount of support from family, friends, and colleagues against silly injustice. I'm not out of the woods yet but I am grateful.
Good wholesome things and people are flourishing. I feel about as cozy as this adorable little camper.

guh! commercials!
despite this horribly cut trailer AMC's new series is awesome. Unfortunately, I honestly think the commercial segments are longer than each act - same issue with Breaking Bad, it makes me just tune out after one season.

Found this on the back of an old comic book. "A feast of an arcade game TO GO!" Someone made a very informative wiki page for it - HERE
