shackles of blind tradition

I used to work in the animation department of National Geographic Television - as you can imagine we made a lot of infographics, many maps, sometimes graphs, biological charts.

This morning I came across some really neat visualizers that would work incredibly as stop motion animations. Its pretty inspiring, but styles like these aren't ever approved by execs who are married to National Geographic's traditional look.

I find it sad that the execs in charge of upholding such a prestigious label are unable to have the vision needed to pull the brands into the current century. They do not need to have art backgrounds but should trust in their artists (and not fire their art directors every 3-5 years).

Check out these Paper-Based 3D Infographics - quite an engaging way to present statistics.
