The Tree of Life has amazing cinematography, fabulous CGI, some interesting sequences and well acted performances but the overall story and execution is a total failure. Obviously trying extremely hard to be profound and incredibly macro this film is fooling itself into being grown-up. It is short sighted and fails to meet its original intent even within its 138 long minutes.
Also, I recognize some of the stock footage from the BBC catalog which I'm not mad at but am surprised to witness.
This piece would have faired better as an art gallery screening rather than submitted as a feature film. I commend the effort and recommend the movie to film makers and industry folks.
Total cautionary tale of what happens when one emperor's new clothes themselves.
